Toledo, OH April 23, 2012 - Professional MMA returns to NW Ohio as Purgatory Fight Series returns with PFS 07 at the Lucas County Recreation Center, 2901 Key St. Maumee, Ohio. The main event is an explosive match up between two young professionals looking to make their mark in MMA, Toledo’s Jake Draves and. Brandon Suber of Dayton. Both fighters walk into the cage with a two-fight win streak and are looking for their fourth win.
Draves trains with BAD DOG Fight Team, based in Toledo, Ohio under top MMA trainer Kelly Hymore and Jiu-Jitsu specialist Chris Blanke. BAD DOG is the home of up and comer Ray Hernandez, who’s also competing on PFS07. Brandon Suber trains at Walker MMA in Dayton under the tutelage of Muy Thai expert, Rob Walker and with other notable pros Jeremy Myers and Yancey Martin.
The under card is nothing short exciting as the combatants are prepared to deliver fireworks this night. Larry Ray (0-1) looks to get his first professional win as he squares off against Rocky Edwards who is making his pro debut. Edwards racked up seven wins and zero losses as an amateur and now has his sights set on the professional rankings. Ray, who also enjoyed success as an amateur champion looks to put his loss behind him and promises to hold nothing back as he meets Edwards in the center of the cage.
Toledo Native Marcos Pecina (1-0) returns home as he faces tough Jeff McKee (1-1). Pecina made a successful debut in West Virginia as he dismantled Mathew Garretson en route to a unanimous decision. This will be Pecina’s first time fighting in front of his hometown. McKee looks to get back to his winning ways as he attempts to get his second win after losing in his last bout.
In a battle that is sure to electrify fight fans, local favorite Ray Hernandez (3-1) faces Matt DiMarcantonio (2-2), of Ontario, in what could be fight of the night. Both fighters are coming off wins in their last bouts and will be looking to move one step closer to the 145 lb. professional Purgatory Title.
Also set to make an appearance is fan favorite Rick “Have A Nice” Day. Making a successful hometown pro debut at PFS 06, Day had fans on their feet as he battled Bobby Gurley of North Carolina. The bout started off even as Gurley had Day in trouble a few times with submission attempts with Day managing to each one. Once the bout was back on its feet, Day began to land punishing push kicks that sucked all the gas out of Gurley. After a valiant effort, Gurley succumbed to the blows and did return for the third round thus awarding Day with a second round TKO.
Make sure to be a witness on this night at the Lucas County Recreation Center as all combatants will bring their best.
